Why is there a need to Sleep?

It is nighttime. People are very tired from studying and working hard. They go to their bed and prepare for the next day.
Sleep is a need. It is an essential factor in a person’s quality of life. But, why is there a need to sleep?
The human body is not perfect. It is not like a robot, which can be turned on anytime to work. It is capable of being tired and it loses energy everyday. Humans need sleep to cope for their daily stresses. Everyday, people undergo different stresses from inside and outside the house. Studying and working are also stressors that may contribute to fatigue, physically and mentally. Also, we use energy as our fuel to do work everyday. People sleep so that they can cope for these stresses, prevent fatigue, conserve energy, rest the body and mind, so as to enjoy life more fully.
But some people are not able to sleep well. Some of them are not in the mood to sleep. Others are distracted, probably by the noise or the temperature of their room. There are some people who cannot sleep because their minds are full of things that they are going to do the next day. As a result, they do not get enough rest and sleep, causing mental deterioration's. People who have inadequate amounts sleep tend to be emotionally irritable, have poor concentration, and experience difficulty making decisions. These could adversely affect their health as well as their performance on the following day.
